Lochcarron maintain the most comprehensive stocks of tartan produce available, involving three wholesale warehouses. The main depot is in Galashiels in the Scottish Borders where not only extensive ranges of tartan fabric are kept, but a considerable number of accessories such as neck ties, scarves, travel rugs, shawls and squares are supplied from stock.

Tartan fabric collections are supplied on a cut length basis with no minimum length requirement, however shorter lengths are generally more expensive to purchase than larger amounts.

The band/military weight tartan called 'Strome' is stocked in their warehouse at Lochcarron Weavers, North Strome. This is their most comprehensive range, usually consisting of around 600 tartans.

The most popular tartans are stocked in double width whilst the rarer family tartans are woven single width at Lochcarron's units in Ross Shire, and Dornoch in Sutherland. This quality is also very popular for use in home furnishing.

Growing in popularity for general kilt use and also for home furnishing is the Braeriach quality, lighter than Strome but still hard wearing all produced in double width, with the range, supplied from the Galashiels warehouse at Waverley Mill, being recently increased to over 150 tartans.

For kilts to be worn in the warmer parts of the world and for more general use in clothing and accessories, the Reiver collection of around 500 tartans is in constant demand, with a stock of neck ties maintained in this quality. Reiver is also used to produce Lochcarron's range of hand pleated kilt skirts as well as their made to order skirts from the full range

Lochcarron's most recent addition to their range of tartans is the 'Spring' (lightweight) collection produced in a range of over 200 tartans. This finer fabric provides a stock range of lighter weight neck ties, and is ideal for sashes, stoles, squares, and summer clothing items. Lochcarron believe their success both now and in the future depends on providing the highest possible quality with the best service and price, using fine quality wools, silk, mohair and cashmere.

The newly restructured computer controlled stock system allows Lochcarron to achieve a quicker than ever service to their retail customers in tartan fabrics, ties, scarves , travel rugs, tams and caps, which are stocked in their warehouse at Galashiels in Scotland, as well as in Kearsarge New Hampshire U.S.A.

Many other smaller collections of superior quality fabrics and accessories in tartans and other fashionable designs are also stock supported at Galashiels, including cashmere and Lochcarron's popular range of brushed mohair in travel rugs, stoles, scarves, and tams available in tartans, plains, and fashion checks. These mohair fabrics are also used in the production of our luxurious capes and shawls.

Although Lochcarron have a reputation for supplying traditional clan and family tartans, they also manufacture many newer designs created for areas, events, and corporations.

Consequently they often market the more successful creations as exclusive suppliers. The three most recent being Isle of Skye (as worn by Her Majesty The Queen at the opening of the Scottish Parliament.)

Pride of Scotland, and The Diana Princess of Wales Memorial Tartan, sales of which contribute to the Memorial Fund. Many other tartans and designs in fabric and accessories are woven at the express request of their customers and enquiries are welcome at any of their centres.

Lochcarron market the above products on a world wide basis with their goods being available in Australasia, Japan, Korea, Europe, North America, and South Africa. Because of the comprehensiveness of their range it is not always possible for stores to supply their total line.
